Spring 2024 Newsletter

As the greenery unfurls and the mountain air grows warmer, we’re excited to bring you the latest edition of our Ski Ranches Community Newsletter. Inside, you’ll find updates on upcoming projects, community initiatives, and opportunities to get involved and make a difference.

Roads, Waterline Replacement, Fiber Network

  • Asphalt Remediation: Following the Fiber Optic installation, we’ll be repairing asphalt cuts, clearing debris, and fixing any damage throughout the Ski Ranches.

  • Water Line Replacement: In collaboration with Mountain Village, replacement of water lines on Fox Farm at the intersections of Saddle Horn and Wapiti, is tentatively scheduled for August.

  • Fiber Optic Network: If you notice any exposed conduits, unaddressed damage, or incomplete installations, please inform Peter McGinty immediately at peter@tellurideservices.com. Outdoor wood burning Fire Pits and Grills that have not been inspected and approved by the DRC within the are NOT PERMITTED for use in the Ski Ranches until further notice.

Design Review and Property Committee (DRPC)

The DRPC is responsible for more than just new constructions and remodels. Remember to register any project with external ramifications, including dumpsters, contractor parking, exterior changes, fire mitigation, tree removal, landscaping alterations, painting, sheds, and trash enclosures.

Visit skiranches.com/drc and select “New Project Form”. Please familiarize yourself with the guidelines and register your project.

Trailers and Campers

Please note that parked trailers and campers in driveways should be screened or hidden. If they aren’t, please note there is a parking restriction of 20 days per year, with no more than 5 consecutive days.

Culverts

Please remember that owners are responsible for maintaining their own culverts under your driveways. These are subject to crushing from snow removal and traffic and blockage from road and drainage debris. Please be sure to check yours out this spring and to have it fully open and cleaned at each end.

Trash Management

As the snow melts away, it reveals litter that has been hidden beneath. We encourage each resident to take a moment to walk around their immediate neighborhood with a trash bag to collect any refuse. This small act can make a big difference in keeping our community clean and pristine. Tyler Shultz is also offering wood debris this Spring again. Please visit https://telluridearborist.com/chipping/ski-ranches-homeowner-woodbrush-chipping-program to set this up if you are interested.

Bears

The Bears are back out! Please be sure to properly secure your trash in bear proof containers. Bears love those "Chewy" deliveries. Be sure they are put inside or on hold when you are not home. Ensure all your trash (and now recycling) is in an enclosed locked bearproof container. Bruin and Waste Management have several sizes available. Washing out your trash can and spraying the outside of the can with ammonia periodically is also a great deterrent.

Please be Bear Aware!

Short Term Rentals

If you rent your home short term, you are required to register it with San Miguel County. Also, please inform HOA Management so that we may provide you with information for your guests regarding fire danger, road safety and trash protocol.

Volunteer Opportunities

We’re seeking community members to volunteer for various committees and events:

  • Park/Trail Cleanup: Join us to maintain the beauty of our trails and parks.

  • Social media/Website: Help us keep our online presence informative and engaging.

  • Welcome Committee: Be the warm greeting for new residents.

  • Summer Picnic: We need at least 5 volunteers for setup, cooking, and cleanup. Let’s build a

committee to make this event a success!

County Election

Anne Brown (D), incumbent Board of County Commissioner is running for re-election against Town of Telluride Council member Geneva Shaunette (D). Both candidates are Democrats so the primary will determine the next commissioner. Vote in person June 25th at 335 West Colorado Ave or by mail. Ballots will be mailed out June 3rd. Make your voice heard!
